Got a nasty insect fright

Spring is in the air and it is getting warmer outside. As you would expect, its also the time of year when insects start to appear again after the winter. I was out in the garden and noticed a bumble bee going in and out of a bird box, and took a look inside. Well, what I discovered was the beginnings of a bee’s nest, although quite small. I could quite clearly hear the buzz of the bees inside. How do you get rid of bees? Well it’s something I had never had to do before, and although I do a lot of DIY work around the house, this was a job for the experts – 1) I don’t like bees and 2) I didn’t want to get stung. If you have the same problem, I found some good advice at

So I called in the experts, a bug exterminator company and they got rid of the bees for me thank goodness. Didn’t take too long and they were only there the afternoon. Just hope they don’t come back, but will need to keep a watch on the garden just in case.

Got flooded

I’ve had a bit of a disaster today, I woke up to my kitchen flooded with water. It seems that the dishwasher waste pipe got blocked and rainwater from outside made its way back up the pipe, overflowing and flooding the kitchen. A real bummer. Been busy the whole morning with towels trying to mop up all the water. Thankfully it was just rainwater and wasn’t dirty or smelled bad or anything like that. Now wondering what to do next. I may need to lift the linoleum flooring in the kitchen and throw it out, and leave the kitchen for a while to dry out. Will probably need to look up a flood clean-up company too. - flood restoration

Top ten blues guitarists

Who would you choose as the best blues guitarists of all time?

Well in my list their would have to be Joe Bonamassa as one of the best new players to emerge in the last few years. Bonamassa has borrowed from a number of players of the past and present and put his own mark on the blues and as a player is technically excellent. From some the older players, BB King would need to in there, Albert King and from the beginning of blues guitar, Robert Johnson. And although he is known for rock guitar, Jimi Hendrix was really a blues player who blended a number of styles and made it his own. And of course one of the biggest influences on Bonamassa was Stevie Ray Vaughan, of without which no blues hall of fame would be complete.

Heavy Metal top ten

I love heavy metal as well as other kinds of music, but thought I’d post this up. These things are pretty subjective, but this isn’t a bad list of a top ten. not sure about Venom though and a bit skewed towards thrash and speed metal guitar stuff! No Led Zeppelin??
