An under $100 (avg. street price) legend, the Shure SM-57 has a long and fascinating history. As many of us know, SM-57’s have been seen on the United States Presidential podium since the office of Lyndon B. Johnson.

You may not recognize the small stature of the SM-57 without its optional garb, including the double-isolation mount and over sized windscreens that transform the microphone into a substantial-looking, but not overbearing presence.
