Audio-Technica is a well known name that, at least for me, brings back memories of turntables and cartridges. Today, we focus on a very nice microphone at a great value.
The AT2020 is a medium (16mm) size side-address condenser mic. The mic was a bit heavy on plosives, but a Stedman 101 tamed things perfectly.
The 2020 has a nice, powder-coated black finish and a quality boom/stand mount. The mic does require 48VDC phantom power from your mixer, vocal strip or other source. This mic, even without the headphones, is a bargain at under $100.
The ATH-M20 headphones are a nice pair of closed studio headphones. At a street price of $40, these can’t compete with the $200-plus cans, but they did have a nice crisp high-end and the quality, fit and finish is excellent as I’ve come to expect from Audio-Technica.
Separately, or as a combo, these are both winners for your Podcast Studio.
