Vistas of Change - A Podcast Platform?

Podcast Audio and Podcast Gear is HERE! …New Media Gear

Sound Forge 9

Today, a visit from Gary at BSW discussing lavalier microphones and a few considerations for going wireless. Also; a discussion of new computing software and hardware in Studio1A.

During the course of Podcasting, voiceovers and running an audio production service, computers play an important role in the daily workflow at Studio1A. For most of us, our computer acts as audio recorder/player, web browser, email reader etc.

A move to a higher-powered laptop was planned some time ago allowing me to be not only more mobile, but more versatile and condense access to software from the office and studio. Data shares are easy, but managing 4 different audio applications and dozens of utilities and plug-ins (all with activations) can get out of hand. Tools that allow remote access to machines was a stop-gap measure, but the real answer involved consolidation. While not quite an all-in-one solution, the consolidation of audio software resources to 2 systems from 7 offered a bit more practicality.

As the studio relies on fewer systems, a backup and fallback plan becomes an important consideration as well.

A few expected hurdles lie ahead. Finding professional multi-track software that is Vista aware is proving more difficult than expected. Sony Sound Forge 9** offers an excellent Vista* solution for 2-track recording. Finding the same professional options in a multi-track program is a bit more challenging.

As time goes on, the options will become easier. Until then, I’ll keep you posted on a few multi-track Vista options in an upcoming show.

…stay tuned

Best,
