The Professional headset/mic combos were quite popular, so I thought that we would mix it up a bit and throw in a good quality prosumer model. The PC160 from Sennheiser is marketed as a “Multimedia” headset.

I found this model to rise above the average computer store headset/mic in attention to quality, especially from the microphone. The open headset is quite comfortable and sounded good. These aren’t designed to be studio monitors, but I think the price makes the whole package a great fit. The cable has a mid-point volume control and mic mute switch. The connectors are the mini-type, ready for your laptop PC.
