Gary Talks Pop Filters - 152

POP

Welcome to PodSqod SE (Sunday Edition.)

Today, a previously recorded conversation with Gary from BSW takes stage as he talks pop filters, windsocks and other screens to keep those plosives at bay. Certain verbiage adds up to larger blasts of air hitting the diaphram of your mic. If this pressure is strong enough, it can pin the mics diaphram back, causing an unwanted “pop” in your audio.

Fortunately, there are simple tools available to treat the problem.

Sometimes a simple foam wind sock is all that’s needed. Alternatively, you can use various clamp-on type filters to distribute the air pressure. Some filters can also act as a shield between the talent and the element, that will not allow ‘close talking’ the microphone.
