After a long Thanksgiving weekend, thoughts turn to gifts and gadgets with the Holiday Season in full swing.

Today, let’s have a look at 2 great little products from Rolls. Almost by accident, I discovered the little Rolls 4-channel headphone amp. This amp is very small and works like a champ enabling Laura and I (and even 2 other guests) to monitor the show from the single headphone jack on the Presonus FirePod. We bypass the headphone jack on the mixer, so that the monitored audio includes post-mixer processing.

Another gem from Rolls is the MX-124 mixer. This compact mixer is powered by an (included) AC - DC 12VDC adapter or by 2 9-volt batteries. This miniature mixer has pro features and a pro feel. This is a mic mixer with 4 XLR mic pre-amps. Phantom power is available on the MX-124 as well as a low-cut filter. Each of the mic channels can be panned left or right.

The transformer balanced output can be set to mic or line level. The MX-124 can act as a mic mixdown before entering yet another mic pre-amp or simply send your audio out at line level to another mixer (or line in.)

As with the HA-43 headphone amp, I found this to be a small sturdy tool for solving audio problems in the studio or in the field. The MX-124 would make a great video mixer.
