This morning, I take the little Kel HM-1 small diaphram condenser mic for a spin. This is a very unique mic. At only 5″ high, it looks like a mini Neumann-style condenser.

The HM-1 has very hot audio output and is extremely crisp. That’s the best way to describe the audio I heard in the cans. Midrange is very pronounced and it has a lot of articulation. For field use; especially capturing live audio, I suspect this mic would shine. From what I have heard, this also makes a great instrument mic.
